Referral Management CentreThe Referral Management Centre (RMC) is an administrative service that manages referrals from professionals to specialist community healthcare services for children and young people aged 0 to 18 years in Northamptonshire.
The RMC team registers referrals and sends them to specialist clinical services for review. We work collaboratively with clinical colleagues across all of NHFT's children's community healthcare services to ensure that every referral receives an outcome. This may be access to an NHFT service, connection to a service provided by another organisation, or advice about what support is available for the child and their family.
If a referral is accepted, the service will contact the family with information about what happens next, including waiting times and appointments. If a referral is not accepted by a service, the RMC will write a letter to the referrer and the parents/carers of the child or young person to explain the outcome and what this means.
While the RMC cannot offer any clinical advice, we are happy to take queries from professionals and parents about the referral process and the status of their referral.
