Adult Services - Continence ServiceNorthamptonshire Continence Advisory Service (NCAS) is a specialist nurse-led team for adults of all ages providing quality assessment, treatment and management of bladder and bowel problems that impact on the quality of everyday life.
Bladder and bowel problems are common and in most cases treatable, but they are poorly understood. Our specialist skilled team feel passionate about the need for clinical assessment and personalised care planning, with dignity in care being at the heart of this confidential service.
Our service is open to anybody registered with a GP in Northamptonshire with the ability to get to a clinic appointment at various locations across the county although housebound patients can be referred to the District Nurses for a continence assessment.
Who is this service for? Adults needing help to manage bowel and bladder symptoms.
How to access this service: Referral is via a healthcare professional or you can refer yourself by sending your name, postal and email addresses and phone number to the contact details provided. The team recommend any changes in bowel or bladder function are discussed with your GP first.
Continence Referral: From 1 August 2020 Northamptonshire Continence Advisory Service will no longer accept direct referrals.
All patient referrals, including GP referrals, telephone calls, emails, letters and self-referrals must be directed to SPOA (Single Point of Access) Northamptonshire.spoa@nhs.net, telephone number 0300 777 0002.
Care home (nursing home and residential home) referrals must be submitted electronically. Screenshot information demonstrating how this is done is can be downloaded here. Faxes to the Service will automatically be rejected.
Please click here to be taken to the referral page.
Any enquiries about the new referral process should be made to the SPOA number shown above.
