Please do not bring:
Valuables with you. If you do, please hand them to staff for safe-keeping as we cannot take responsibility for items that are not handed in. In the interests of safety, certain items are not permitted in hospital, which includes drugs, alcohol, lighters, matches and sharp or edged items. Please ask at the ward office for a list.
Privacy and dignity
We are committed to providing the very best possible care for all our patients and service users. Our care should be safe, effective and focused on the individual needs of each and every person.
Your privacy and dignity is just as important, which is why we have made a number of changes to provide you with same-sex accommodation when you are admitted into our wards.
What do we mean by same-sex accommodation? Same-sex accommodation is where sleeping areas, toilet and washing facilities are designated as either men-only or women-only.
Our adult mental health inpatient services at the Welland Centre in Kettering and Berrywood Hospital in Northampton both provide the highest standards of same-sex accommodation. We have dedicated male and female treatment wards at both centres and all patients have their own single room with ensuite bathroom.
Patients also have their own single rooms in our psychiatric intensive care and assessment units. These wards, which admit both men and women, have designated male and female-only areas, including lounges, bathrooms and toilets.
Car parking
There is free on-site car park at Berrywood Hospital. Please note this can be extremly limited at busy times. When parking at Berrywood please do not block any entrances or park on the grass verges.

Proud to be smokefree
We know that quitting smoking reduces your chances of heart disease and lung cancer as well as improves your sense of taste, makes your skin look younger and reduces stress. That is why we are proud to be smokefree.
Remember smoking is not allowed anywhere, on any NHFT sites.
If you are an inpatient please speak to your ward matron about options for nicotine replacement. All other users (whether service user, visitors or staff) must go offsite if they wish to smoke.
