Why NHFT?

Here at Northamptonshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust (NHFT) we are dedicated to making a positive difference and to providing care with compassion. We put the person at the centre of everything we do, so if you want to work for a Trust that makes a difference; this is the place for you.

NHFT, the county’s NHS mental health and community healthcare provider, has been rated as Outstanding by the Care Quality Commission (CQC)

NHFT is now the third mental health Trust in the country to receive this impressive rating. We are only the second Trust to receive it that provides community care as well as mental health care.

The CQC praised our staff for embracing our vision and values, as well as the strong leadership in place. For this, we were also rated Outstanding in the Well-led field.

NHFT was named Trust of the Year at the Health Service Journal (HSJ) Awards 2018. The HSJ Awards are the largest and most respected health awards in the country. It is a real honour and achievement for our Trust to be recognised on this national level.

The Trust of the Year award recognises NHS organisations which offer excellent, patient-centric care and are shown to be innovative and forward thinking to meet the needs of the population they serve.

What are the benefits of working for NHFT?

Here at NHFT, we know our staff are our biggest asset and we want to do all we can to support their wellbeing. We are pleased to have signed up to Time to Change and put NHFT on the map as a Trust that supports employees to talk about mental health. We want our staff to feel confident to speak up when they are struggling with their mental health, whether that be to a colleague, a manager, a healthcare worker, or using the support services we have in place. We have promised:

“We aim to empower people to challenge stigma and speak openly about their own mental health experiences, as well as changing attitudes and behaviours towards those with mental health problems.”

We are a living wage employer. This means everyone working at NHFT receives an hourly wage that is higher than the National Living Wage. The Living Wage is a calculation that reflects the real cost of living, rewarding a hard day’s work with a fair day’s pay. This shows our commitment to everyone who is part of team NHFT.

How do you reward staff who go the extra mile?

We created our NHFT Quality Awards to recognise team members who go the extra mile. The Quality Awards are a chance to celebrate and share good practice, shining a light on those who give quality care. Regular awards take place through the year, and each of the winners are then entered into the annual award ceremony held towards the end of the year.
