Introducing our activities

iDiscover brings information and activities to children and young people in Northamptonshire. These activities are free to young people and those who support them including parents, carers, families and teachers. They are a great way for you to learn through creativity and fun.

Each activity is created and run by both young people or carers and people with special knowledge of the subject.

Activities include things like courses and workshops.

At iDiscover, all of our activities are co-produced with children, young people and families – and every single one starts with an idea from someone like you.

Please fill in this online form to let us know your ideas or requests about what you would like iDiscover to offer.

Who can sign up and attend?

People attending iDiscover activities may be:

  • Any young person in Northamptonshire under the age of 25 years old
  • Family members, carers or friends who support someone under the age of 25 years old
  • Northamptonshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust (NHFT) staff
  • People from organisations who support young people and families
  • People from other local organisations, such as North and West Northamptonshire Councils, the University of Northampton or Northamptonshire Carers

Everyone joining iDiscover activities attends as a 'Peer', whatever their age. This is because we are all equals as we learn together. All the activities are free to attend.

If you are interested in joining any of our activities, the first step is to register with iDiscover. If you don't think you fit into any of the above categories, please contact us and we can help you.

Registration and consent for young people to participate

Filling in a registration form for iDiscover

All Peers joining iDiscover need to complete the registration form. This gives us information so we can keep you safe and also lets you can tell us how we can best support you. Some people will be happy to fill in the form online on our website, or you may prefer for it to be posted to you to complete and then return to us. Other people prefer to speak to someone on the phone to fill in the form together.

Giving consent Peers attending activities who are under 16 years of age

This is done by your parent or carer on the iDiscover registration form. If you are aged 15 or under, and it is difficult for any reason to get permission from a parent or carer, please contact us all the same. We can then decide together if you can take part without it.

We may also ask you and your parent/carer for consent for you or your work to be photographed to share with others. This could mean on our website or on things like leaflets and posters. You are never under any pressure to agree to this if it doesn’t feel right for you.

If you are aged 16 or over, you can consent for yourself on the registration form.

Supporting you to attend

We understand that joining a group is not always easy. We are here to help and will give you as much information as we can before you sign up for any activity, such as:

  • Where you will be and the facilities available there
  • What to expect from the activity
  • Who will be leading the activity so that you can recognise them
  • How you can travel to the activity (if in person)

Be sure to tell us if there is anything else that would be helpful for you.

When and where do the activities take place?

We offer online and in-person activities. You will find details about the activity, and where and when it is taking place, on our online booking pages. All of our activities take place at safe NHS or partner venues. For more information please contact us.

After registration

After you have registered for an activity, we will contact you by telephone and email. This is so we can let you know your place is booked and send you reminders. You can also join our mailing list so that we can keep you updated about new activities and opportunities.

You will be emailed your Peer ID code. Please make a note of this as you will need it to book on to our activities, which you can access on the iDiscover Eventbrite page.

If at any point you have any questions, please do contact our friendly team.

Some activities are in person and others are online. When you book on to an activity you will be sent all the information you need about where the activity is taking place.

Will I know who is going to be at the activity?

We will let you know who is leading the activity. When you book on to an activity you will be sent information about who will lead the activity and what they look like, so you know who you are meeting.
