Learning DisabilitiesOur service comprises both community teams for people with learning disabilities (CTPLD's) and the Intensive Support Team (IST).
The CTPLD's provide specialist healthcare service for people who have a learning disability (IQ below 70) and health needs that requires input. The focus is on supporting people with learning disabilities and related health needs to lead happier, healthier and more fulfilling lives. The teams are made up of up of skilled multi-disciplinary practitioners, clinicians and nurses.
IST provides community assessment and treatment for those 14 years and older with learning disabilities experiencing mental ill health or behaviour that challenges. This multi-disciplinary team of nurses, psychologist, occupational therapists and speech and language therapists is also supported by a duty clinician role to respond to urgent and deteriorating needs. We also have a respite ward for short stays.

Who are we?
Our Community Teams for People with Learning Disabilities (CTPLD) support adults and children who have a learning disability and additional health needs. We are multi-disciplinary team of health professionals working closely with partner services to help people live well and access the support they need. The team includes nurses, occupational therapists, speech & language therapists, physiotherapists, psychiatrists and psychologists and administrative support.

Childrens CTPLDBack upThe Children's Community Team for People with Learning Disabilities can work directly with children, or indirectly with parents or carers, helping them with a range of difficulties. Examples of such work may include behaviour management, anxiety and anger management, bereavement and loss, trauma, attachment, relationship difficulties, toileting and sleep.
The service is for children young people who are up to 18 years old.
