Forensic TeamWe work with adults with an ongoing mental illness who have committed a serious offence. This if often within secure hospital settings.
This team offers:
- Nursing, social work and medical treatment
- Psychological interventions including risk formulation
- Individualised holistic rehabilitation including mental health treatment and monitoring
- Public protection
- Risk management
- Physical health review and support
- Substance misuse interventions
- Housing advice and support
- Benefits and employment support
Many different kinds of people use our service and we offer a wide range of interventions.
Who is this service for? Adults who suffer from a mental disorder and have committed a serious offence.
This may include homicide or attempted murder, wounding with intent, rape, attempted rape and sexual assaults, as well as fire setting (when reckless or with intent to endanger life).
This also includes a dual diagnosis of a learning disability that drives serious offending behaviour, placing others at serious risk.
How do I register for this service?
You cannot self-refer to the Community Forensic Team.
A specialist referral from an inpatient setting, prisons, community mental health teams and other secondary services would be considered via a formal consultation review.
