Update on Danetre Community Hospital
Northamptonshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust (NHFT) is committed to providing safe, quality care for patients, service users and carers.
NHFT provides community inpatients beds at Danetre Community Hospital. These beds are mainly focused on rehabilitation, supporting people leaving general hospitals, as well as a small number of palliative care beds for those needing end of life treatment.
We currently have an unexpected shortfall in consultant cover, therefore, to ensure patient safety during this period, these beds have been temporarily switched to provide rehabilitation care in the short term. A recruitment process is ongoing, and once the medical cover has been resolved, the beds will switch back to being palliative care beds.
We understand the importance of local quality palliative care for patients and their families in Daventry and the surrounding areas. We thank our local community for their support for Danetre Community Hospital and apologise for any inconvenience while we work to restore our palliative care provision at this site.
We continue to support palliative care patients through our beds at both Cynthia Spencer and Cransley hospices, as well as through our palliative care clinical nurse specialists working across our communities.
Anyone requiring urgent support in relation to palliative care, should speak to the healthcare team providing their care or their GP.
