There is Power in Community – Mental Health Awareness Week 2025

At NHFT, we know that mental health isn't just an individual experience - it's a shared one. The people around us, the groups we belong to, and the connections we build all play a powerful role in our wellbeing. That's why this Mental Health Awareness Week (13-19 May), we're celebrating the national theme: There is Power in Community.
While mental health can sometimes feel isolating, community helps to remind us that we're not alone. Whether it's joining a walking group, singing in a choir, practicing mindfulness with others, or being part of a support group ; connection matters.
Throughout this week, we'll be using our social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram and LinkedIn) to highlight the wide variety of communities across Northamptonshire that support mental wellbeing. Each day, we'll spotlight a different type of community, including:
-
Movement and physical activity
-
Music, drama and the arts
-
Mindfulness and wellbeing groups
-
Peer support and mental health groups
-
Faith and cultural communities
-
SEND (Special Educational Needs and Disabilities) networks
-
Communities for older adults
Get involved - share your community
We want to hear from you. Do you belong to a community that supports your mental health?
Maybe it's your local running club, a weekly craft group, a parent support network, or a spiritual gathering. Join the conversation on our social media channels and tell us about it and how someone could join in the comments.
By sharing your story, you might help someone else find their community too.
Follow along
We'll be posting throughout the week to share ideas, inspiration, and signposts to organisations and groups right here in Northamptonshire.
Whether you're looking to connect with others or support your own mental wellbeing, there's a community out there for you.
