Northamptonshire Autism advocate wins national award for Outstanding Contribution
We're proud to share that Stefan Attrill, Autistic Co-trainer with the Northamptonshire Oliver McGowan Mandatory Training (OMMT) team, has been recognised nationally for his work to improve care for autistic people and those with learning disabilities.
Stefan received the Outstanding Contribution Award (Not for Profit) at the National Learning Disabilities Awards 2025, held in Birmingham on 4 July. The award celebrates individuals who have made a lasting difference - and Stefan's work is helping to shape more inclusive care across Northamptonshire.
As part of Team NHFT, Stefan plays a key role in delivering the Oliver McGowan Mandatory Training to health and care professionals, helping them better understand the needs of autistic people and those with learning disabilities. His lived experience brings valuable insight to the training, supporting staff to reflect on their practice and make meaningful changes that benefit the people they care for.
Stefan has also contributed to the development of both the current and previous county-wide all-age autism strategies. He is an active member of the Autism Advisory Panel and Autism Enabler Group. His involvement ensures that services are shaped by real experiences and focused on what matters most to those who use them.
This national recognition highlights the importance of involving Experts by Experience in service design and delivery. It reflects Team NHFT's commitment to being responsive and including everyone to deliver compassionate care across Northamptonshire.
Congratulations to Stefan on this well-deserved award, and thank you for helping us build a more inclusive Northamptonshire.
