Welcoming Faisal Hussain, our new group Chair

Today we welcome Faisal Hussain as our new interim group Chair for our Trust, and our colleagues at Leicestershire Partnership Trust (LPT).

We are so pleased to have him join us, and we know he has some big plans ahead for us.

The role of Chair is an important one, and Faisal is an experienced board-level leader with over 30 years of experience across the private, public, and charitable sectors, which he brings to his role at Leicestershire Partnership NHS Trust. After finishing his substantive career in local government, he began his non-executive career in 2017, bringing expertise in strategic planning, business transformation, commissioning, and community development.

He has been a Non-Executive Director at Leicestershire Partnership NHS Trust for several years and has chaired a number of committees, including those focused on finance, performance, audit, and mental health legislation. Faisal is also Chair of the national charity, the Spinal Injuries Association, and has extensive experience in governance, financial and risk management, workforce and culture, operational performance, and stakeholder engagement.

We are also thrilled to tell you that Faisal was recently named as a rising star by the Health Service Journal (HSJ) in their recent  most influential Black, Asian and minority ethnic people in health.

The HSJ noted that: Mr Hussain is the Spinal Injuries Association's chair and interim joint chair at Leicestershire Partnership Trust and Northamptonshire Healthcare Foundation Trust. He has spent much of his working life in local government. He has been tetraplegic since 1989 and is committed to ensuring those with spinal cord injury, their families and carers get high standards of care and support.

Angela Hillery, group Chief Executive said: I am really looking forward to working with Faisal in his new role, and focusing on continuing to build towards our group vision of thriving together and building compassionate care and wellbeing for everyone in our communities. Faisal already has been plans and I am excited to support them in coming to fruition.

We are looking forward to this next step in our journey with Faisal and will keep you updated, so make sure you stay up to date with our Trust by becoming a member today.
