Celebrating the hundreds of NHFT Volunteers

Volunteers' Week (1-7 June) is a time to recognise and celebrate the incredible people who give their time, energy and compassion to support our services and communities.

Every day, our volunteers help make a real difference. From offering a friendly conversation, to supporting patients, families and staff, their kindness and generosity help create positive experiences and moments that truly matter. Their contribution plays a vital role in helping us provide compassionate, high-quality care.

This Volunteers' Week, we're proud to say thank you and to share the stories of some of the people who make this impact possible.

Meet some of our volunteers

Every volunteer brings something unique. Here are just a few of the people who give their time to support others across our services.

Jan and Jude

Jan and Jude are celebrating 10 years of voluntary service this year. As receptionists at Cransley Hospice, they are often the first faces people see, offering a warm welcome to patients, families and visitors.

Together, they help create a calm and supportive environment, bringing kindness and reassurance at what can often be a difficult time.

Trevor

Trevor volunteers as part of our telephone befriending service, offering regular calls to people who may be feeling lonely or isolated.

Through simple but meaningful conversations, he builds genuine connections that provide companionship and support. His time and empathy help people feel heard, valued and less alone.

Barbara

Barbara is a volunteer receptionist at Cransley Hospice, where she plays an important role in supporting patients, families and staff each day.

Her friendly and approachable nature helps create a welcoming environment, ensuring people feel supported from the moment they arrive.

Reverend Peter Heffron

Rev Peter Heffron volunteers as a chaplain, offering spiritual and pastoral support to patients, families and colleagues.

Through listening and quiet reflection, he provides comfort and reassurance, helping people navigate some of life's most challenging moments.

Thank you

Our volunteers give their time freely, but the impact they make is invaluable. Their compassion, dedication and willingness to support others helps strengthen our services and the communities we serve.

To every one of our volunteers - thank you.
