Your Patient Choice Award winner – George Flanagan
Every year, NHFT's Quality Awards shine a spotlight on the people who make a real difference in healthcare. Among the categories, one award is particularly special: the Patient Choice Award. Unlike other awards, this recognition comes directly from patients, carers and families, who nominate individuals or teams that have provided outstanding, compassionate care.
This year, the award was presented to George Flanagan, a Podiatric Surgeon in NHFT's Podiatric Surgery service. George helps patients with complex foot and ankle conditions, often restoring mobility and improving quality of life. His work is highly specialised, but what truly sets him apart is his approach to care - taking time to listen, explain, and ensure patients feel supported every step of the way.
The nomination that led to George's win described him as approachable, professional and deeply committed to patient wellbeing. For those living with painful or limiting conditions, George's care has been life changing. It's this combination of clinical expertise and human connection that makes the Patient Choice Award so meaningful.
Reflecting on the award, George said:

My goal is always to provide the best possible experience and outcomes for patients, and I'm grateful to work alongside such a supportive team.
