NHFT's Employee Engagement Initiatives get National Shortlist

We are delighted to announce that NHFT has been shortlisted for A Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development Award (CIPD), for Employee Experience.

NHFT employs over 4,500 people, making it one of Northamptonshire’s largest employers.

The Employee Experience category recognises organisations that take a holistic approach to employee engagement and well-being, allowing workers to have a voice and be their best. NHFT has been shortlisted for its Let’s Talk initiative, which demonstrates various Trust-wide work streams that improve employee experience including ‘Listening to and Involving You’, ‘Supporting Your Health and Wellbeing’; and ‘Equality for All’.

This nomination comes on the heels of recent news that NHFT has been shortlisted in other national awards for its wellbeing and diversity programmes, including the Nursing Times Workforce Awards and Healthcare People Management Awards. The success of these and other initiatives can be seen in the most recent results of the national NHS Staff Survey, where 72% of NHFT colleagues recommended it as a place to work – the highest recommendation in the country for Trusts of its type.

Director of HR and Organisational Development, Chris Oakes, said, “Staff engagement and wellbeing is so important to NHFT. There is robust evidence that people can only provide compassionate care if they themselves are shown compassion and are well supported, and so it is clear that in order to look after our patients, we also need to look after our staff.”

“To be shortlisted for a CIPD award, alongside national organisations from the public, private and third sectors, is an honour and really validates the work that we are doing.”

The winners will be announced at the CIPD Awards on 24th September 2019.
