Meet Emma – winner of the Inclusivity Ambassador award

When Emma Law's name was announced at the NHFT Quality Awards, she was stunned. Winning the Inclusivity Ambassador Award is more than a title -  it's a celebration of those who make our workplaces fairer,  kinder  and more welcoming for everyone. For Emma, inclusivity isn't just something she talks about;  it's  something she champions every single day.

"Overwhelmed, really shocked, really humbled", Emma says of the moment she won. "Just being nominated felt like recognition from my colleagues - but to win means the absolute world"

Emma has been instrumental in creating spaces for conversations that matter - she actively participates in the Menopause Support Group, which offers a safe and supportive environment for colleagues.

"We're a massively female-driven trust, and menopause affects how you perform at work and how you see yourself, Emma explains. It's a big thing, and for my colleagues to recognise that was really touching"

Her passion for inclusivity is deeply personal. Emma is  neurodiverse and her lived  experiences give her unique insight into how workplace changes can affect people differently.

"I try to think about how things might impact others, she says. We all have strengths and weaknesses - it's about adapting and making sure everyone has purpose"

Emma's approach to inclusivity is practical and heartfelt. She creates safe spaces for colleagues to share struggles, encourages participation in NHFT  staff  networks   and champions open conversations.

"No one is on their A-game every day, she says. I'm honest about my own challenges, and that helps others feel they can speak up too"

Emma's story is a powerful reminder that inclusivity  isn't  an add-on - it's  essential.  It's about recognising strengths, adapting processes, and creating workplaces where everyone feels  valued.  And thanks to the dedication of colleagues like Emma, NHFT is stronger, more supportive, and more inclusive than ever.
