TeamNHFT shortlisted at prestigious Health Service Journal awards

We are delighted to announce that NHFT has been shortlisted at the prestigious national Health Service Journal awards, in three categories:

Freedom to Speak Up Organisation of the Year Award

NHFT has worked hard to develop our culture to focus on learning and improvement, and to help us all feel able to speak up so that potential harm is prevented. We were thrilled to receive a High Commendation in this category last year, and this year’s submission demonstrates how our FTSU Guardian, Matt Asbrey, and the network of champions have continued to build on and develop this work.

NHS Communication Initiative of the Year Award

The COVID-19 pandemic has been extremely challenging for all NHS staff, whether working on-site or remotely at home. In the early summer, when we had moved through the initial ‘crisis’ phase of the pandemic into the ‘management’ phase, our Communications and Organisational Development teams worked together on a strategy to communicate and engage with NHFT colleagues across the Trust and county. This strategy helped to deliver initiatives including the virtual Wellbeing Festival, weekly Ask a Director videos, the Leadership Matters sessions, and more.

System-Led Support for Carers Award

NHFT is committed to equality and diversity and as such we have a number of staff networks for colleagues to join to help address issues or challenges within the Trust and support the overall objective of equality and inclusivity. Our Working Carers staff network has worked closely with other organisations in the county under the umbrella organisation Northants Services Working Together to share experiences and initiatives and support one another. Within NHFT, the Working Carers network has put a great deal of support in place for our working carer colleagues, and many of these have been enhanced during the COVID-19 pandemic.

A big round of applause for all of our shortlisted teams and initiatives, this news is a resounding endorsement of NHFT’s culture and commitment to being a great place to work and to receive care. We look forward to sharing the results with you after the virtual ceremony on 17th March 2021!
