Northamptonshire Healthcare (NHFT) has ranked top among trusts of its type in the Midlands for digital maturity, as revealed by the national 2025 Digital Maturity Assessment (DMA). The Trust scored 2.99 out of 5 across Mental Health and 3.10 across Community Healthcare. NHFT also scored 3.5 out of 5 for safe practice.

Gareth Jones, Group Chief Digital Information Officer across NHFT and Leicestershire Partnership Trust, said; "We've increased our points for 2025, keeping ahead of the rising average for this year. I'd like to personally thank all contributors who have taken the time to ensure we continue to rank highest in the Midlands area and in the top 10%, nationally for our specialisms. The assessment supports our plans for the future, helps us to identify opportunities for improvement and further development and supports our patients and staff."

With the shift from analogue to digital, as detailed in the NHS 10-Year Plan, 'Fit for the Future', the assessment considers if the use of digital technology is well-led, has smart foundations, safe practices, supports people, empowers service users, improves care and contributes to building healthy populations.

Kelvin Lack, Head of Digital Technology Services at NHFT said; "The preparation involved three days of analysing the questions against our 2024 submission, sharing our methodology with Leicestershire Partnership Trust (LPT), interviewing 23 subject matter experts and peer reviewing in collaboration with LPT. It was rigorous but has proven to be a brilliant way to evaluate how we can better shift from analogue to digital and use technology to enhance experience for our service users, patients and carers"
