Northamptonshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust (NHFT), the county’s mental health and community healthcare provider, has announced its Governor Elections for 2021.

The search is on for individuals across Northamptonshire who have an interest in healthcare and improving these services for the good of the whole community.  This is a great chance for those passionate and committed Northamptonshire residents to step forward and make a difference for their community by representing their voice on the Trust’s Council of Governors.

Crishni Waring, Chair at NHFT, explains:

“Governors are an important and vital connection between the Trust and the people we serve. Not only do they represent the interests of their communities, and the public in general, but using their own networks and local ties, they can help us engage more effectively on Trust priorities and decisions.

“We are rated as an outstanding organisation by the CQC and this has meant better care for the people of Northamptonshire and beyond.  For this to continue we need to maintain strong partnerships between Directors, staff, service users and their carers - and Governors form an important part of this way of working.

“As we begin our recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic, we are looking for people from every walk of life to join us on our Council.  As long as you are 16 or over, it does not matter if you are in or out of employment, in education, a community leader, a stay at home parent, recently retired or caring for someone else.  Whoever you are and whatever your background, we would like to hear from you.”

Visit www.nhft.nhs.uk/elections to find out more about being a Governor. The deadline for nominations is 5:00pm on Thursday 4 March 2021 and you can self-nominate via www.cesvotes.com/NHFT2021. NHFT positively encourages nominations from under-represented groups such as people from BAME communities, people with disabilities, LGBTQ+ people and young people.

NHFT provides support across Northamptonshire, at every stage of life. This includes children’s services such as health visitors and school nurses, to mental health service for every age group. From community nurses to palliative care teams and physiotherapy, gender identity, community hospitals to prison healthcare. Wherever you are in Northamptonshire, you are never far from an NHFT service.
