World Breastfeeding Week: How can NHFT support my breastfeeding journey?
World Breastfeeding Week (1-7 August) is an opportunity to celebrate breastfeeding, raise awareness of the support available to families, and recognise the important role that communities, families and healthcare professionals play in helping parents give their babies the best start in life.
Breastfeeding is natural and human milk is uniquely tailored to your baby's needs. While many parents choose to breastfeed, every feeding journey is different, and some families may need additional support along the way.
At Northamptonshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust (NHFT), our specialist Infant Feeding Team is here to support families across Northamptonshire with compassionate, personalised advice throughout their feeding journey.
Gold-standard support for families across Northamptonshire
NHFT's 0-19 Service is proud to hold UNICEF UK Baby Friendly Gold accreditation, the highest level of recognition available through the Baby Friendly Initiative.
This prestigious accreditation recognises our commitment to providing high-quality, evidence-based infant feeding support and ensuring families have access to the information and care they need to make informed decisions about feeding their baby.
Our Infant Feeding Team includes:
-
Infant Feeding Leads, who are both International Board Certified Lactation Consultants (IBCLCs)
-
An Infant Feeding Health Visitor
-
Infant Feeding Advisors
Together, they provide specialist support for families across North Northamptonshire through face-to-face appointments and ongoing advice.
Whether you're preparing for your baby's arrival, learning to breastfeed, overcoming feeding challenges or simply looking for reassurance, our team is here to help.
The team understands that every family has unique circumstances and provides person-centred support tailored to individual needs. Their aim is to help parents feel informed, confident and supported throughout their feeding journey.
