Volunteers Week 2025 - celebrating the many volunteer teams behind NHFT

Lady on the phone volunteering

This week (2 - 9 June 2025), Northamptonshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust (NHFT) is proud to celebrate Volunteers Week. The week is a special time to shine a light on the incredible individuals who give their time, energy and compassion to support our patients, staff, service users and carers across the county.

From welcoming visitors at reception desks and providing a friendly voice over the phone, to supporting patients in our community hospitals and even bringing in their four-legged friends to spread some joy, our volunteers come from all walks of life, and each one plays a vital role in the Trust.

The Trust's Chief Executive, Angela Hillery said: "I want to say a big, heartfelt thank you to all of you, every single one of you, no matter how much you contribute. It really does make a difference and you're helping us do that"

Voluntary Services Manager, Mandy Woolf said "I have been in this role for over 9 years now and have seen so many wonderful people volunteer for us during that time. I am truly inspired and humbled by their dedication and commitment. They provide great support to many services and help improve the patient experience"

A week of celebration

Throughout Volunteers Week on our social media channels, we will be sharing stories and highlights from the many different volunteer roles across NHFT. Each day will be focused on a different area, showcasing just how varied and far-reaching our volunteering community is.

Making a real difference

NHFT currently has over 270 active volunteers, generously giving their time across a wide range of services. Whether through a friendly chat, a warm welcome, or simply being a kind presence on the ward, our volunteers help make our care even more person-centred and compassionate.

Volunteering not only makes a difference to the experience of our service users, but also the volunteers themselves. Here is what our volunteers had to say about their experience at NHFT:

"Volunteering is so rewarding. I get back just as much as I give."
"I love being part of such a kind and welcoming team."
"It's a joy to see the positive impact we can have on others - and on ourselves."
