Take the first step to help prevent suicide today

Losing a loved one or friend to suicide is devastating. Often someone who is experiencing suicidal thoughts won’t reach out for support. This World Suicide Prevention Day, we would like to share with you, a few small steps we can all make, which could make a huge difference.

In 2019, more than 5,691 lost their lives to suicide. Across the globe, one person loses their life to suicide every 40 seconds.

We can all take a small step to help to prevent suicide. The Zero Suicide Alliance Prevention training can be completed online at any time and can help to provide a better understanding of the signs to look out for and the skills required to approach someone who is struggling, whether that be through social isolation or suicidal thoughts. The training is completely free and only takes 20 minutes. By taking this small step, we can help to create hope through action.

If you are experiencing suicidal thoughts or feel as though you want to end your life, please know that there is support available ready to help you. We have included some of this support below, for further support visit www.nhft.nhs.uk/help
