Introducing NHFT Together: valuing our people
Welcome to the latest edition of NHFT Together, the quarterly magazine from Northamptonshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust (NHFT) for our service users, colleagues, stakeholders and communities.
In this edition our focus is on 'valuing our people', so it seems appropriate that it comes at a time when we are welcoming a new cohort of colleagues to our Trust.
In September, we formally took responsibility for a number of specialist secure services previously provided by St Andrew's Healthcare in Northampton, safeguarding care and valuable expertise and roles for the local area.
Over the last year or so we've also welcomed new colleagues from prisons in Nottinghamshire and Lincolnshire, where we've begun delivering healthcare services - and you can meet our dedicated Secured Services Podiatry team who are working hard to tackle preventable illness across all of our prison and secured sites.
Elsewhere in this edition we take a closer look at just a few of the other great things our people are doing every day to make a difference, together. We discover how one occupational therapist has led a positive change in the way we are supporting people's
mental health recovery, and how investment in our Children's Speech and Language Therapy team is helping to improve care and drive down waiting times.
We also bring you updates on groundbreaking research into treatment for early psychosis and the team working to tackle potentially sight-threatening eye conditions in people with diabetes.
And we introduce you to two hospital chaplains: one a long-serving NHFT volunteer with more than 40 years of service under his belt, and another who tells us how a life-changing accident altered the course of her career in our regular 'Meet the Governor' feature.
We hope you enjoy this new edition of NHFT Together.
