NHFT Success at the Health Service Journal (HSJ)’s Patient Safety Awards!

We’re celebrating this morning as NHFT clinched the awards for Learning Disabilities Initiative of the Year and Mental Health Initiative of the Year at the HSJ Patient Safety Awards last night!  The HSJ Patient Safety Awards is a prestigious national awards ceremony that recognises the innovative projects, dedicated individuals and organisations committed to improving the experience of patients in their care.

Our Learning Disabilities Initiative submission recognises the project that our Learning Disabilities team worked on to treat sexual offending of men with mild learning disabilities

Our Mental Health Initiative submission relates to the community services that NHFT provides for people in mental health crisis – Crisis Cafes co-run with the mental health charity Mind, and the Crisis House that can be used for short stays where individuals can engage in collaborative recovery. Our Crisis services were also shortlisted for a HSJ Value award in February, and have been shortlisted at the NHS Parliamentary Awards which will announce winners next week.

HSJ bureau chief for quality and patient safety Shaun Lintern said: “Each of the winners exemplify the best of the NHS: working to improve the safety of their services and to deliver higher quality of care to their patients.

“All finalist projects selected by our independent judges are making a real difference, representing the vanguard of efforts in all healthcare settings to continuously improve and seek better outcomes.

“It was a privilege to celebrate with the winners and I hope other organisations and teams can learn from their example as we raise the bar on safety.”
