A tribute to Augustine Agyei-Mensah

Augustine Agyei-Mensah

Augustine Agyei-Mensah, a highly-regarded team member at Northamptonshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust (NHFT), has sadly passed away following treatment for COVID-19.

Augustine was a learning disabilities nurse at NHFT since 2014. Augustine qualified in 2013 from the University of Hertfordshire, with a dual Learning Disability Nurse and Social Work degree. In his carer Augustine worked closely with the team’s Speech & Language Therapist and Psychology colleagues to support service users with a variety of complex cognitive and sensory needs. Augustine always recognised that as a clinician he had an opportunity to support service users in making positive changes.

Outside of work, Augustine was a dedicated to his family, his four young children and was proud of his Ghanaian heritage. Prior to commencing his clinical training, Augustine worked for Southwest Trains from 2003 to 2007 engaging in customer service duties, and platform activities.

Angela Hillery, Chief Executive, said: “Our hearts break today for Augustine’ wife and young family. We remain committed to supporting them through this time.

“Augustine epitomised what we stand for here at NHFT. He was committed to making a difference and giving people a second chance.

“Augustine cared for some of the most vulnerable in our society; lives have been transformed because of him.”

Augustine’s family said: “Augustine was a caring husband and loving father to four children. We are devastated by his loss. He was a dedicated, hard working and proud NHS worker who will be missed by all who knew him.”
