This page contains pre-course information for use by NHFT staff once they have booked on to a training course. Contact the Learning & Development team for more information.

General information for all courses

Please arrive 15 minutes prior to course commencement for registration. Please note: if you arrive later than 15 minutes after the start of the course or intend to leave early you will have to retake the whole course and no certificate will be issued

Please contact Learning and Development if you have any specific needs or health problem that you feel we need to be aware of.  If you feel that you require any additional assistance in an emergency evacuations situation, please request a General Emergency Evacuation Plan (GEEP) form from LearningandDevelopment@nhft.nhs.uk, complete and return to the venue of your course prior to the session taking place.

Parking/Travel: If the above training course is due to take place at Newland House or Campbell House, there is a daily parking charge.  Please check the Northampton Borough Council website for parking charges. 

If, in attending this course, your mileage is in excess of your normal home to base (and return) mileage, you should complete the 'Business Mileage and Subsistence/Expenses Claim Form' (PCF4). This will need to be authorised by your line manager who will then submit to the Trust's payroll providers.

Information for specific courses

Basic life support

Please note: Appropriate clothing and footwear must be worn at all times
Due to the practical nature of this course; participants are expected to have the ability to cope with a number of physically active sessions.  If you are unfit to perform Basic Life Support you will not be able to participate in the session and will have to rebook.

Basic life support - 15 minute practical assessment

Please note you will need to have completed BASIC LIFE SUPPORT THEORY via E Learning prior to you attending this Practical Assessment. The BASIC LIFE SUPPORT THEORY training can be accessed via ESR. 

Please note: Appropriate clothing and footwear must be worn at all times

Breakaway and low level

It is essential that you wear the appropriate clothing so please read carefully the guidance below:

Suitable clothing - jogging bottoms/tracksuit trousers, loose fitting t-shirt / top and trainers.

Unsuitable clothing - open toed / hard soled / heeled shoes or boots, sleeveless tops or skirts. You must ensure that your finger nails are short and long hair is tied back. Jewellery must not be worn on the matted area. If it cannot be removed it must be covered in tape, which will be provided.

Breastfeeding

Please read it at your earliest convenience before the training sessions.  Please bring a soft bodied doll to each session.

Catheterisation theory

Please ensure you print and take this work book with you on the day, as you will be required to complete this during the catheterisation theory session and hand in to the trainer at the end.

Pre-course work

Tissue Viability - Compression Study Day

Pre-Course Information: The training includes both theory and practical elements and delegates will be practicing bandaging techniques on each other.  Please come prepared for this and wear appropriate clothing. We would also appreciate it if you could bring a set of bandages for each type of compression
