Twelve people welcomed as Governor elections results announced
The eagerly-awaited results of elections to find people to represent the healthcare interests of local people have been announced.
Northamptonshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust (NHFT) held its annual Governor elections which included 14 candidates vying for five staff Governor seats and several public and patient and carer seats also contested.
Voting closed on 18 April 2024 and the results have now been announced.
NHFT Governors represent the interests of their communities and the public, as a whole. By using their networks and local ties, they can help the Trust learn, develop and grow.
The 2024 election results are as follows:
- Public Northampon: Pete Spink and John Wishart elected
- Public Daventry and South Northants: Adam Webb and Marcella Daye elected
- Public Rest of England: Michael Fanning elected
- Patient and Carer: Carol Philips re-elected and Damon Boughen elected
- Staff: Richard Amponsah re-elected, Mike Boodhun, Anupama (Anu) Goonesekera, Sheila Begley and Heba Kadir elected

Roles and responsibilities for the Council of Governors include:
- Representing members’ views to the Trust’s board of directors
- Sharing information about key decisions with members of the Trust
- Appointing or removing the chair and non-executive directors
- Being involved in recruitment of the chief executive
- Appointing the Trust’s external auditors
- Providing suggestions on the future strategic plans of the Trust
- Receiving the annual report and accounts at the annual general meeting.
