Join baby loss support event for healthcare professionals
Healthcare professionals, who work with people who have experienced baby loss, are invited to a special support and information event being held this month.
The Baby and Pregnancy Loss Conference, organised by Northamptonshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust (NHFT), takes place on Wednesday 9 October from 9am to 4pm.
The event is aimed at healthcare professionals, including local healthcare trust and hospital staff, GPs, and other health support workers, or healthcare students.
NHFT's Maternal Loss Psychology Service (MLPS) will be hosting the conference, taking place at Moulton Community Centre in Moulton.
It aims to help raise awareness of the what the service can offer and the interventions available for people who are experiencing mental health difficulties associated with pregnancy and baby loss.
It will also support professionals to feel better prepared in working with women, birthing people, and families whose mental health is impacted by pregnancy or baby loss.
Anthony Mobee-Dumi, from NHFT’s Specialist Perinatal Mental Health and Maternal Loss Psychology Service, said: “This event is a must for professionals who have roles where they may have engagement with families who have suffered pregnancy or baby loss. It will explain how the service can be accessed and the different support pathways available. It will also provide a better understanding of grief, expected grief and how to talk about baby loss at different stages, as well as help to recognise the signs and symptoms of trauma in patients, families, and staff.”
Participants can book one-to-one consultation slots in the afternoon via this Eventbrite link.
