TypeEating Disorders Service
The Northamptonshire Eating Disorder Service is a countywide, psychology led, community/outpatient service . We offer assessment and interventions to adults with a diagnosed eating disorder. We work with people who are suffering from a wide range of eating disorders, including Anorexia Nervosa, Bulimia Nervosa, Binge Eating Disorder or other similar eating, weight and shape problems that have a strong emotional aspect to them.
We are experienced specialist clinicians including clinical and counselling psychologists, specialist nurses and a dietician. Our interventions include individual and group therapy, intensive home support, where required, carers support. We value the importance of “lived experience” and involve people who have used our service in the on-going development, delivery and recruitment processes of the EDS.
Our teams mission statement is: "We aim to provide a comprehensive, compassionate and flexible clinical service to improve the lives of adults with eating disorders. We believe that quality of care is dependent on collective commitment and expertise of the team, including the lived experience of service users and carers. We have a commitment to the underpinning evidence base of treatment for eating disorders, but also an appreciation for flexibility and creativity to adapt to the needs of our service users, due to the complex nature of eating disorders."
Our teams vision is: "Central to our vision is recovery from eating disorders. We aim to support and empower those who use our services to reach a state of wellness and quality of life, in line with their individual values. We recognise that this can be facilitated through offering choice, working in a partnership of mutual respect and providing person-centred interventions."
Who is this service for? People aged 18 and above who have an eating disorder, as well as their carers/loved ones.
