Research & Development

Research and Development

Research can seem a large and daunting prospect without the right support. At Northamptonshire NHS Healthcare Foundation Trust (NHFT), we have tried, and feel we are succeeding, in spreading the word that research participation is a supported opportunity open to everyone from all backgrounds, service users and public to professional and academic levels.

Research at NHFT has grown in recent years and we have aimed to compose our own portfolio of research projects that reflects our staff and service user needs so that we can break down barriers and welcome any contribution, be that through supporting at an administrative level, by delivering the clinical interventions, helping to develop a research project, identifying potential participants or in actually offering to be the participant.

Research changes the future of healthcare for our service users and therefore, it is everybody’s business that we contribute to it and enable open access to those who might want to take part.

“Research is Vital in providing new knowledge needed to improve health outcomes and reduce inequalities” Equity and excellence: liberating the NHS (2010)

Research is a core part of the NHS because it enables the NHS to improve the current and future health of the population”. (NHS constitution 2008)

Contact the Research and Development Department to get involved in portfolio research, training, other local research or with developing your own research project: stephen.zingwe@nhft.nhs.ukor on 01536 494756.

Alternatively, you can complete an Expression of Interest form. This will let us know about your research interests, we can then contact you if any research projects come to the trust that we feel may interest you.

We invite your suggestions and encourage your further involvement with enthusiasm
